Almeria, Spain's own Julián Torralba, was previously known as a movie stuntman. Stunt performances for a few hundred people are currently the only way he and his colleagues can earn a living after making their money in American Westerns filmed in Spain in the 1970s. His son Julián, who was also a stuntman, died in Julián's arms and he is estranged from his daughter-in-law Laura and her son Carlos as a result of that experience. Carlos, a young lad, is fascinated by his late father's life and runs away to join Julián and his band of has-beens. As a result, Carlos is introduced to the wild ways of these hard-drinking fake cowboys. It is only when one of the country's most prominent executives, Laura, finds that Carlos has joined the dreaded Julián that she works to destroy even this fragment of his once-proud profession. To defend themselves, Julián and the cowboys will do whatever it takes.
