When Claire Darrow's new beau, District Attorney Miles Strasberg, introduces her to his younger half-sister, Phoebe, a simple offer of legal help develops into the largest obstacle of Claire's legal career, she finds herself facing the most difficult decision of her life. Having just finished her first album, Phoebe is concerned that she may have signed away her rights to her ex-producer, who has threatened to burn the tapes if she hasn't. Upon investigating a producer's death in his studio, the cops discover enough evidence and motive to bring Phoebe into custody. Despite the fact that Claire has never tried a murder case, Miles can't imagine putting his beloved sibling's fate in the hands of anyone other than Claire. Clair sets out to discover the truth behind the crime, working side by side with Miles.
