Lydia Campbell and her daughter Elle have recently uprooted their lives and moved from Los Angeles to Florida for reasons that are not quite clear. Elle, a senior at Bellview High School, will have Lydia as her new assistant principal starting this year. Due to the fact that they are both new to the area, they are both determined to make a better life for themselves and are willing to do whatever to do so. At the beginning of the prom season, Elle, with Lydia by her side, does everything in her power to become popular and win the title of homecoming queen.
