In New South Wales, two seemingly unrelated events unfold: a charred, murdered body of a young lady is discovered on the beach, and a retired inspector investigates; and Linda, a waitress and ferry attendant, has multiple lovers and marries one, but continues to see the others. The police have identified a suspect in the murder, but the former inspector is confident they are mistaken; he conducts a thorough inquiry. Linda and her husband divorce, and things get complicated. Will the storylines intersect, or are they already entwined?
