Overview
When a fissure reluctantly opens in a British mud flat throughout a military exercise there, injuring one soldier and murdering another, an American researcher in a nearby nuclear plant joins with a British researcher to discover why the sufferers were radioactively burned and why, shortly thereafter, a series of radiation-related incidents are occurring within an ever-growing straight line away from the fissure.
