Faerie Tale Theatre is a live-action children's television anthology series that tells classic fairy tales in new ways. Shelley Duvall is the show's narrator, host, and executive producer, as well as an occasional guest star. The series was followed by a shorter series called Tall Tales & Legends, which was based on great American folk tales and followed the same pattern as Faerie Tale Theatre. Both shows are based on the children's television programme Shirley Temple's Storybook and feature well-known performers and directors. From 1982 until 1987, Showtime broadcasted Faerie Tale Theatre. Later, modified reruns appeared on the Disney Channel, PBS, and BookTelevision.
