It is completion of the Meiji Age. The brilliant poet Ishikawa Takuboku, who's struggling monetarily, starts an investigator business out of his lodging in response to a specific murder instance. He calls it the Woodpecker Detective's Office. "The ghosts of the Twelve-Story Tower in Asakusa," "the man-eating number that strays the streets on snowy nights"... Takuboku includes himself in one unusual situation after one more with his home town associate, Kindaichi Kyosuke, as his assistant. Other literary men such as Nomura Kodo, Yoshii Isamu, Hagiwara Sakutaro, and also Wakayama Bokusui are likewise dragged into Takuboku's ventures as he races all around Tokyo at the elevation of Westernization!
